Investigating the P300 Response as a Marker of Working Memory in Virtual Training Environments

Conventional performance metrics fail to offer high-resolution evaluation of learning and memory during training tasks; the P300 component event-related potential (ERP) is a promising tool for enhancing assessment quality in virtual environments, but this technique yet be investigated. A driver simulator scenario were developed explore capability purpose. user study was conducted with 32 participants divided into two groups objectively determined by driving scores, thus enabling observations response equated varying levels memory. Participant electroencephalogram data recorded procedure, which postprocessed filter extract ERPs capture neural responses specific events scenario. These combined produce result each participant, then grand averaged create an overall ERP group. Across eight electrode sites, statistically significant differences found between average waveforms groups, high retention producing significantly greater peak-to-peak amplitude (U = 9.00, p 0.045), peak latency 0.00, $<; $ 0.001), positive area 13.00, 0.05) waveform than low retention. The evidenced relationship working context suggests that it has monitoring stimulus-driven systems.
